As of February 9th, 2025, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD2) boasted over 250,000 concurrent Steam players. Creative Director Daniel Vávra proudly announced a peak of 256,206 concurrent players on Twitter (X). Each day since its February 4th release, KCD2 has surpassed its previous record:

• February 5th: 176,285 concurrent players
• February 6th: 185,582 concurrent players
• February 7th: 190,194 concurrent players
• February 8th: 233,586 concurrent players
• February 9th: 256,206 concurrent players

Industry estimates suggest approximately 890,000 Steam sales alone. Currently, KCD2 holds the #2 spot on Steam's top-selling games chart (behind Counter-Strike 2) and #5 on the most-played list (following CS2, Dota 2, Marvel Rivals, and Banana). With 1 million copies sold on launch day, KCD2 is rapidly approaching the 2 million mark.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's Meticulous Detail

KCD2's phenomenal opening weekend can be attributed to Warhorse Studios' unwavering commitment to detail, creating an incredibly immersive and enjoyable experience. Building on the series' reputation for realism (rotting food, cleaning clothes and armor, sword sharpening, etc.), KCD2 introduces new elements to fully immerse players in a 15th-century medieval world.

Senior Game Designer Ondřej Bittner highlighted a new stealth mechanic to GamesRadar: accumulating dirt and grime leads to a "body odor" debuff, essentially broadcasting your location to enemies.

The introduction of "handgonnes," historically accurate early firearms, is another example of this commitment. Bittner explained to PC Gamer that these early guns were notoriously difficult to use, inaccurate, and unsafe—intentionally designed as a "meme weapon."

PR Manager Tobias Stolz-Zwilling emphasized the game's focus on authenticity over hyper-accuracy: "We want an intriguing, cool, fun, and nice videogame. However, we try extremely hard to make it as authentic as possible."

The Post-Launch Roadmap

Warhorse Studios' post-launch roadmap ensures continued player engagement throughout 2025 with free updates and paid DLC.

Free updates include a Barber feature, Hardcore mode, and Horse Racing (Spring 2025 release). Paid DLC will launch throughout the year: Brushes with Death (Summer), Legacy of the Forge (Autumn), and Mysteria Ecclesiae (Winter).
