The "For Whom the Bell Tolls" quest begins after completing "Wedding Crashers." Hans is imprisoned in Trosky and faces execution once the bell tolls twelve times. Your task: save him. Fortunately, you're spared the gallows and assigned labor around the castle—a fortunate turn of events that provides an opportunity for escape.

Hauling Sacks

Begin by hauling sacks from a wagon to a nearby shed. This is non-negotiable; simply grab a sack, carry it to the shed, drop it, and repeat until the objective is complete.

Help the Blacksmith

Next, assist the blacksmith. He'll request you forge a horseshoe. Find the forge (it's across from the archway), gather the necessary materials, craft the horseshoe, and deliver it to him. He'll then direct you towards the stables.

Help Fanka the Cook

Retrieve a lockpick from a red pot on the shelves near the forge. Speak with Fanka, the cook. Offering to help her grants you access to the noble's kitchen. While lockpicking isn't strictly required, it boosts your reputation and earns you future food privileges.

Speak with the Chamberlain

The chamberlain, suffering from an ailment, is in the kitchen. Attempt to convince him to allow you to brew a Digestive Potion. Success grants you access to the surgeon's workshop; failure requires stealth.

Make Fever Tonicum

If you failed to convince the chamberlain, acquire food from the kitchen to bribe the guard and sneak into the workshop. Otherwise, proceed directly to the surgeon's workshop (located up the stairs opposite the forge). Craft a Fever Tonicum, and a Digestive Potion if you persuaded the chamberlain (sufficient ingredients are in the workshop chest).

Cure Thomas

If you helped the chamberlain, return with the Digestive Potion to gain access to Thomas' room. Otherwise, stealthily navigate to Thomas's room via the noble's kitchen staircase, distracting guards with pebbles as needed. Give Adele the Fever Tonicum to trigger the cutscene that concludes the quest.

Completing "For Whom the Bell Tolls" before the twelfth bell tolls rewards you with reputation, regardless of your approach.
