Denuvo DRM Officially Removed From inZOI

The inZOI team has officially announced the removal of Denuvo DRM from their upcoming game. Over the past day, multiple reports revealed that an early demo version of the Creative Studio mode included this anti-tampering software. Denuvo's implementation in games has long sparked debate within the gaming community, with many users claiming it negatively impacts performance.

This digital rights management technology primarily aims to prevent unauthorized game copying and distribution, effectively deterring piracy attempts and cracked versions.

In a March 26 Steam blog update, inZOI director Hyungjun 'Kjun' Kim explained their decision: "Our Early Access version launching this Friday will be completely DRM-free. We initially implemented Denuvo to protect against illegal distribution and ensure fairness for legitimate purchasers. However, after carefully considering community feedback, we recognized this approach didn't meet player expectations."

Kim also apologized for failing to disclose Denuvo's inclusion in the Creative Studio mode earlier. While acknowledging that removing DRM might increase piracy risks, he emphasized the greater value of enabling unrestricted customization. "By granting this creative freedom from day one, we believe we'll foster more innovative and enduring gameplay experiences for our community," he added.

inZOI's Commitment to Modding Accessibility

The decision to initially include Denuvo perplexed many players, as inZOI has consistently promoted itself as a mod-friendly game. DRM protection typically hinders modification capabilities that the development team has heavily emphasized.

Kjun reiterated their dedication: "During our Online Showcase, we stressed our commitment to making inZOI fully moddable. Our first wave of official mod tools launches in May, supporting software like Maya and Blender for custom content creation. This represents just the foundation - we'll progressively expand modding support across all game aspects to enable deeper personalization."

The director confirmed upcoming details about modding support in a dedicated future post. Krafton remains focused on prioritizing player feedback to deliver the best possible gaming experience.

inZOI enters Early Access on March 28, 2025, for PC, with full releases planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The complete version's launch window remains unconfirmed at this time.
