Harry Potter: Magic Awakened, the collectible card role-playing game by NetEase has announced its EOS. Well, the EOS is regional and for the time being, it’s shutting down in the Americas, Europe and Oceania. The servers in these regions are pulling the plug on October 29th, 2024.So, if you’re in Asia or certain MENA territories, you can still play the game. For those who haven’t tried it out yet, it was first announced back in 2020 during NetEase Games’ big annual event. It was developed by Zen Studio and dropped in 2021.When it launched in China in September 2021, it got off to a solid start. Global pre-registrations kicked off in February 2022. But then, delays hit, and by the time it finally launched worldwide on June 27th, the momentum had fizzled out a bit.Why Did They Announce The EOS Of Harry Potter: Magic Awakened?The game had potential, with its Clash Royale-esque gameplay mixed with wizards. At the start, players really liked the card-battling mechanics and duelling as a wizard. It really captured that Hogwarts vibe.But then, the game didn’t exactly light up the charts. Just over a year since its global release, it’s already shutting down. Over on Reddit, players have ranted about how they started bouncing when it the game started favouring those who spent more over those with skills.One of the big turn-offs was when they reworked the rewards system, which used to let skilled players punch above their weight class and earn better rewards. There were a lot of nerfs and progression got a lot slower for non-spending/free-to-play players.The game has already been pulled from the Google Play Store in the closing regions as of August 26th. But if you’re in any of the other regions, you can still give it a try.
