Halo Infinite Update Boosts Xbox FPS: Relaunch Campaign Urged

The Halo Infinite "Summer 2025 Update" is now live and will run until June 10. This update introduces a range of exciting new features, including fresh playlists, the powerful Mutilator weapon, sandbox enhancements, new Forge tools, and an expanded Weapon Bench with more weapons. Players can also enjoy 50 additional tiers, four new armor sets, bonus XP, and an extra challenge slot by upgrading to the Premium Operation Pass.

Despite these additions, some fans feel that the update might be too little too late. Halo Infinite has undergone significant transformations over the years, including the rebranding of its developer from 343 Industries to Halo Studios. This change followed a sharp decline in player numbers post-launch, driven by dissatisfaction with the lack of content, flawed progression systems, monetization strategies, and the cancellation of a highly anticipated battle royale mode.

However, many fans believe that Halo Infinite has now reached its peak. In a Reddit thread titled "Halo Infinite REALLY should do a 'relaunch' ad campaign. It's just not the same game as at launch. Not even close," one enthusiast expressed their renewed appreciation for the game: "I can't imagine anyone who likes Halo but hasn't given this game a chance, or haven't played since launch, would be disappointed coming back. The amount of content added since my last break is staggering—three new guns, countless new maps, multiple new firefight modes, and so much more to unlock and grind for. A well-crafted trailer showcasing all these changes could significantly boost the game's reputation and bring back old players."

The fan continued to highlight the game's evolution: "With three new pieces of equipment, five new guns, over a hundred new maps, ten new game modes, hundreds of new armor pieces, an improved free credit shop, and a quadrupled ranked playlist, there's so much to explore. The addition of career rank, numerous battle pass tiers, including a free one with great reach armor, and the exceptional Forge and custom games browser, all contribute to making Halo Infinite the best Halo game since Halo 3 and the finest work from 343 Industries yet."

Echoing this sentiment, another player commented: "I wholeheartedly agree, the game is easily the best game since [Halo 3] and the best 343 has produced. It took a while to get here, but it's been fun to watch play out." A third added, "I have a buddy who wrote it off early and hasn't come back. He's already trashing the game, and I try telling him it's solid now, but he doesn't want to hear it." Another fan declared, "Multiplayer-wise, it's the best Halo ever made."

In another Reddit thread featuring the iconic marketing image of Master Chief holding his helmet, a player asked for current opinions on Halo Infinite. A fan responded enthusiastically: "I really love Infinite. Been playing since about halfway through Season 1. It revitalized my love for the series, which I had stopped playing during Halo 4. The best Spartan customization, rotating game modes, fun custom games, and a great campaign with unique music—it's all there. I'm approaching my first Onyx rank and am on track to hit the max career rank. The gameplay blends classic Halo feel with modern upgrades, and sprint feels fantastic. Infinite has outgrown its initial release and continues to improve. It's one of my favorite games in the series."

Another player chimed in: "It's the best arena shooter on Xbox right now. Halo Infinite scratches that itch that I wish COD did." However, not all feedback was positive, with one less enthused fan stating: "This image represents the last little bit of hope I had. I genuinely think Halo’s time is over, the people who understood how to make the magic happen are all scattered and gone."

IGN awarded Halo Infinite's single-player campaign a 9/10 in their review, noting: "Halo Infinite's single-player campaign is exactly what this series needed. It brings out the best in Master Chief's unique and satisfying combat style while leveraging old ideas to create memorable new moments. Its story falls short for both new and veteran players, but it was worth the six-year wait."

With Microsoft's multiplatform strategy in full effect, some Xbox fans are curious if Halo might follow games like Forza Horizon 5 and Gears of War to PlayStation. Phil Spencer, Microsoft's gaming chief, mentioned in November that there are no "red lines" in their first-party lineup, hinting at potential future expansions.
