Since *Fields of Mistria* entered Early Access on Steam, the Deep Woods area has been tantalizingly marked on the town map, but remained inaccessible until the game's exciting March 2025 update. If you're eager to explore this mysterious region and meet Caldarus, here's your comprehensive guide on how to access the Deep Woods and find him within *Fields of Mistria*.

How To Unlock the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

Unlocking the Deep Woods involves breaking the Fire Seal and using the newly acquired Dragon’s Breath spell to burn through the concealing vines. To initiate this process, head to the Priestess’ Fire Seal altar on Floor 60 of the mines and place four specific items: a Faceted Rock Gem, a Rockroot, an Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. You can find the first three items scattered between floors 50 and 59, but obtaining the Sealing Scroll requires teamwork with Juniper and Balor.

To help Balor procure the Sealing Scroll, you need to leave the following items in the bin by his wagon:

• x10 Silver Ingots
• x10 Rubies
• x10 Sapphires
• x10 Emeralds

After meeting these requirements, speak with Balor again, and he'll inform you that the scroll will be ready the next day. Once you have the scroll, you can complete the offering at the altar.

Typically, breaking magical seals results in a few words from the enigmatic mines Priestess, signaling the unlocking of a new biome. However, this time, things take an unexpected turn. The Priestess urges you to leave before the Sealing Scroll traps you inside. As your health wanes, you'll call for help, summoning Caldarus in his human form. He'll retreat to his temple in the Deep Woods to regain his strength and asks you to find him there, gifting you the Dragon’s Breath spell.

This powerful offensive spell is your key to burning through the vines that hide the Deep Woods entrance. You can also use it to reveal other hidden areas on the map. Simply equip Dragon’s Breath from the pause menu and activate it while standing in front of the entrance to permanently unlock the Deep Woods and beyond.

How To Find Caldarus

After breaking the Fire Seal, navigate to Caldarus' temple in the Deep Woods, located north of the Eastern Road on your map. Use the Dragon’s Breath spell to access this area. Caldarus' exact location will be marked on your map like other NPCs, and you'll find him in the northeast corner of the temple.

To reach him, enter the Deep Woods and head right, using your axe to clear a stump blocking your path. Continue north until you arrive at the temple where Caldarus awaits.

Once the Deep Woods is unlocked, you can use the Dragon Statue on your farm to fast travel to the area for just 10 Essence, making subsequent visits to Caldarus quick and convenient. And remember, even when you're not physically present, you can still interact with Caldarus through his statue.
