PlayStation and Sucker Punch Productions have officially announced that Ghost of Yōtei will hit the shelves on October 2, 2025. On April 23, they unveiled a captivating new trailer named "The Onryō’s List," which provides a glimpse into the game's narrative and gameplay. The trailer concludes with the eagerly awaited release date.

Set 300 years after the events of its predecessor, Ghost of Yōtei introduces players to Atsu, a fierce protagonist driven by vengeance. In the heart of Ezo (modern-day Hokkaido), Atsu seeks to avenge her family, brutally murdered by the notorious Yōtei Six: The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and their leader, Lord Saito. This standalone sequel promises to build on the success of Ghost of Tsushima with new weapons, mechanics, and more.

Hunt Down The Yōtei Six Your Way

In Ghost of Yōtei, players have the freedom to pursue the Yōtei Six in any order, crafting a unique path of revenge. Sucker Punch detailed these features in a post on PlayStation.blog on April 23, shedding light on Atsu’s journey and the expansive world of Ezo.

The game offers an evolved open-world exploration experience, providing more freedom and variety than ever before. Beyond the main quest of hunting down the outlaws, players can engage in various activities such as tracking other dangerous targets to claim bounties or seeking out weapon sensei to hone new skills. Familiar elements like the beloved "Guiding Wind" return, alongside a new campfire mechanic that allows players to build a campfire anywhere in the open world. The developers emphasize the freedom to explore and engage with the vast landscape of Ezo, with more details to be shared in the coming months.
