The initial reports implicated Invisible Narratives, but the Skibidi Toilet creator, operating under a Discord profile, denied sending the notice, a claim corroborated by news site Dexerto. This adds a layer of complexity to the already ironic situation: the Skibidi Toilet series itself uses assets from Garry's Mod.

Garry Newman, Garry's Mod's creator, shared the DMCA on the s&box Discord server, highlighting the absurdity of the situation. The notice claimed copyright ownership of characters like Titan Cameraman, Titan Speakerman, Titan TV Man, and Skibidi Toilet. It specifically cited the YouTube channel DaFuq!?Boom!, which uses Garry's Mod assets to create Skibidi Toilet content, as the source of infringement.

The irony lies in the genesis of Skibidi Toilet itself. Created using Garry's Mod assets, its creators now appear to be targeting the platform that enabled its existence. While Garry's Mod utilizes assets from Valve's Half-Life 2 (with Valve's permission), the copyright ownership of the assets used in the Skibidi Toilet series is murky. Valve, as the original copyright holder of Half-Life 2, arguably has a stronger claim than Invisible Narratives.

Further complicating matters, DaFuq!?Boom! denied any involvement in the DMCA through the s&box Discord, expressing confusion and a desire to contact Garry Newman. The DMCA's origin remains uncertain, despite listing Invisible Narratives, LLC as the copyright holder for the listed characters.

This incident follows previous copyright strikes issued by DaFuq!?Boom! against other YouTubers, including GameToons, highlighting a pattern of aggressive copyright enforcement. While the GameToons dispute eventually resolved, the current situation with Garry's Mod underscores the ongoing debate surrounding copyright and the use of assets in creative projects. The lack of clarity surrounding the DMCA's origin and the inherent irony of the situation leave the future of this dispute uncertain.
