"Back to the Future Writer Rules Out Prequel, Spinoff, or Sequel"

The beloved *Back to the Future* franchise has faced persistent speculation about potential future projects, fueled by recent discussions from the creators of *Cobra Kai* about a possible TV series. However, Bob Gale, a screenwriter of the iconic Robert Zemeckis-directed trilogy, has firmly quashed any hopes of expanding the universe. In a candid conversation with People, Gale expressed frustration about the constant inquiries, stating, "I don't know why they keep talking about that! I mean, do they think that if they say it enough times, we're going to actually do it?"
Gale's stance is clear: no *Back to the Future 4*, no prequel, and no spinoff. He emphasized, "It's just fine the way it is. It's not perfect, but as Bob Zemeckis used to say, 'It's perfect enough.'" While acknowledging that Hollywood might have the power to push for a revival, Gale pointed out that executive producer Steven Spielberg would need to approve any such project. He humorously remarked, "If the juggernaut of corporate America or corporate international mishigas says, 'If you don't agree to this, we're going to kill your children,' alright, well, no, we don't want our children killed." However, he stressed that Spielberg respects their decision, noting, "Steven, just like Steven won't allow another E.T., he totally respects the fact that we don't want any more *Back to the Future*. He gets it and always stood behind that. And thank you, Steven."
Gale's sentiments align with his previous statements, including a blunt message in February to fans hoping for a *Back to the Future 4*: "People always say, 'When are you going to do *Back to the Future 4*?' And we say, 'F**k you.'"
