Fortnite Returns to U.S. Apple App Store

Fortnite enthusiasts in the U.S. can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the game has triumphantly returned to the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad users. Epic Games announced this exciting news through a post on X/Twitter, celebrating the end of a long wait for mobile gamers eager to dive back into the battle royale experience. The revived store page is now available, and although some might have trouble finding it via search immediately, Epic assures that it will be fully searchable "soon." You can access the page by clicking here.
For those in the European Union, the excitement extends further as Fortnite is also available for download through the Epic Games Store and AltStore. This marks a significant milestone in resolving the tensions between Epic and Apple, which escalated in August 2020. At that time, both Apple and Google removed Fortnite from their stores following an Epic update that lowered V-Bucks prices and introduced a direct payment system. Epic cited the "exorbitant" fees charged by Apple and Google as the reason behind their move.
The fallout from this decision led to a prolonged legal battle that kept Fortnite off official storefronts. However, the tide turned in April when Epic CEO Tim Sweeney announced that Fortnite would be back on the iOS App Store in early May, following a favorable ruling from a U.S. Federal District Court in California. A brief delay caused by continued blocking from Apple pushed back the return, but now, after five years, Fortnite is once again accessible on iOS devices.
Players downloading Fortnite on their Apple devices can now choose to buy V-Bucks either through the Epic Games Store or via in-app purchases. For instance, the 2,800 V-Bucks pack, priced at $22.99, allows users to pay Epic directly, earning a 20% rebate ($4.60) to spend on other Epic offerings.
For more on Fortnite, delve into Epic's collaboration with Star Wars featuring the Darth Vader AI bot, which, despite its appeal, stirred controversy when players discovered it could be prompted to say profanities. This led to the Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) filing an unfair labor practice charge against Epic.
