Formovie Episode One Review: Projector Paradise?

At Droid Gamers, we receive all kinds of tech for review, but a projector was a first. The Formovie Episode One caught our attention as a budget-friendly projector capable of streaming mobile games on a big screen—making it right up our alley.

While high-end projectors typically break the bank, the Episode One delivers impressive value. It achieves its goal of affordability while exceeding expectations—despite some inevitable trade-offs.

Inside the box, you'll find: the projector, remote (bring your own batteries), power cable, and manual. Though not as hefty as premium models, its build quality feels sturdy.

Weighing just three pounds, it’s genuinely portable—easy to toss in a bag for movie nights outdoors or gaming sessions at a friend's place.

The selection of ports is basic but adequate—one USB-A, one HDMI, and an audio jack. Given the price point, this should satisfy most casual users, though power users might crave more connectivity.

Performance-wise, the Episode One holds its own for a budget model. With 150 ISO lumens, it won’t compete with high-brightness laser projectors, but it gets the job done.

In our tests, direct sunlight overwhelmed it (as expected), but in dim or dark environments, it performed well. Movies and shows displayed crisply, and game streaming worked smoothly.

For optimal image quality, we recommend at least 10 feet of projection distance. The built-in speaker is serviceable in a pinch, though clearly budget-tier—you’ll want external speakers for better audio.

The streamlined user interface is a standout feature. Setup is simple, and navigation feels intuitive—unlike some overcomplicated premium projectors we’ve tested.

Overall, the Formovie Episode One is an ideal entry-level projector. While it won’t dazzle with premium specs, it nails the essentials at an accessible price.
