Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the sequel continuing the story beyond Midgar, receives update 1.080. This update refines the game's atmosphere for a more realistic and immersive experience through enhanced haptic feedback. The PC version launches January 23, 2025. This second installment in the trilogy expands the narrative with a strong focus on exploration.

While Final Fantasy XVI's initial May 2024 sales were disappointing and ultimately fell short of fiscal year projections, specific sales figures remain undisclosed. Similarly, Square Enix has not released sales data for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which also underperformed expectations.

The company clarified that they don't consider the sales of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth a complete failure. Furthermore, they remain confident that Final Fantasy XVI can still achieve its projected goals within the 18-month timeframe.
