It's uncommon, but occasionally a single installment of a long-standing series evolves into a mini-franchise of its own. This is true for many JRPGs, like Persona 5, and certainly for Final Fantasy VII. Among its numerous spin-offs, the popular mobile RPG Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis is celebrating its second anniversary!

To commemorate the milestone, Square Enix is running a special in-game event. Interestingly, it connects to another beloved offshoot: the fan-favorite CGI movie, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Running until October 22nd, the event lets players unlock gear and rewards styled after the film.

The most significant new feature is undoubtedly Sephiroth. However, this isn't the more recent, calmer version. Instead, it's the full-fledged, original Sephiroth making his debut in Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis.

Cloud, Tifa, and Yuffie are also receiving a collection of Advent Children-themed outfits, along with some Kadaj-inspired gear for Young Sephiroth.

Available now, the event rewards include a 2nd Anniversary Gear Voucher, redeemable for one gear of your choice—with some exceptions. Crossover and limited-edition gear are not included. Players can also obtain Draw Ticket x200, Reawakened: Limit Break Medals x3, Stamina Tonic x100, a Memoria of 2nd Anniversary, and other login bonuses.

What is a Memoria? This new item can be equipped to a party member to boost their stats and unlock a new move called an M. Ability.
