IGN has the exclusive reveal: Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando and Hollywood will feature a brand-new haunted house inspired by Prime Video's Fallout series, while the Five Nights at Freddy’s experience will draw from the movie, brought to life with the help of Jim Henson’s Creature Shop—legendary for crafting the film’s animatronics.

While details about the Five Nights at Freddy’s attraction remain scarce, the Fallout haunted house will debut on August 29 at Universal Orlando Resort and September 4 at Universal Studios Hollywood, immersing fans in iconic moments from the show’s first season and beyond.

Visitors will step into Vault 33, following Lucy MacLean’s harrowing escape from a bloody massacre while uncovering a dark secret. The journey continues into the Wasteland, where they’ll evade attacks by Scavengers, Raiders, and mutated RAD Roaches. Along the way, they’ll explore the Super Duper Mart, confront the Ghoul, and encounter Maximus clad in his imposing T-60 armor.

To delve deeper into this nuclear nightmare, we spoke with John Murdy, Creative Director at Universal Studios Hollywood, and Matthew Flood, Senior Show Director at Universal Orlando Resort, during IGN Live. Both Fallout enthusiasts shared their passion for creating the ultimate immersive experience.

“We want fans to feel like they’re actually inside the Fallout universe,” Flood explained. “Where else can you walk through a vault, brave the Wasteland, and come face-to-face with ghouls?”

“The visceral details—like the corpses Lucy encounters—are quintessential Halloween Horror Nights,” he added. “It’s gruesome, terrifying, and packed with iconic monsters and mutated creatures. Perfect for our audience.”

For the team, Fallout presents an unprecedented opportunity.

“Its retro-futuristic 1950s aesthetic is fresh for HHN,” Murdy noted. “Exploring post-nuclear horror opens a whole new creative frontier.”

Each park will offer unique twists, including distinct T-60 armor designs.

“Hollywood’s Power Armor is a full animatronic,” Murdy revealed. “Orlando features an epic battle sequence—with T-60s and even Filly making an appearance.”

Murdy also teased park-exclusive creatures, like Hollywood’s Yao Guai Bear.

Despite the chaos, meticulous planning ensures a layered experience. Murdy’s 100-page treatment balances narrative depth with technical precision.

“We cater to both casual visitors and die-hard fans,” he said. “Easter Eggs will reward repeat visits—like a hidden Pip-Boy or subtle world-building details.”

Flood hinted: “Glance into storefronts when you’re not fleeing in terror—you might spot something special.”

When asked their standout moments, Murdy picked the Wasteland’s contrast with claustrophobic vaults, while Flood championed the Super Duper Mart’s eerie authenticity.

As for Five Nights at Freddy’s, Murdy teased: “It’s like stepping directly into the film.”
