"Experience Eye-Controlled Driving with Open Drive, Now in Early Access on Android"

May 21,25(3 months ago)

Open Drive, the innovative racing game developed for mobile devices, is now available in early access on Android. This game is a collaborative effort between SpecialEffect, a charity dedicated to enhancing gaming accessibility for the physically disabled, and Sun & Moon Studios. Open Drive is not just another racing game; it's a testament to inclusivity and adaptive gameplay.

What’s the Game About?

Open Drive is designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of their physical capabilities. The game supports various control methods including touch, keyboard and mouse, switch access, and controllers, making it truly versatile. A standout feature is its mobile-specific eye control, which allows players to steer by simply looking left or right, using a compatible eye gaze camera. This feature is a game-changer for players with physical disabilities, enabling them to enjoy the open-world driving experience in four distinct environments: Stunt, Speed, Snow, and Meadow.

Gameplay in Open Drive is highly flexible. Players can leisurely drive around collecting orbs or engage in high-speed chases and perform daring jumps with different vehicles like the Roadster, Trickster, or Speedster. The game also allows players to adjust the speed to their preference, ensuring a personalized gaming experience. Check out the early access announcement trailers below to get a glimpse of what Open Drive has to offer.

Open Drive Is Now Out in Early Access

Open Drive's early access version on Android automatically detects the control method being used and adjusts the gameplay accordingly. It fully supports Switch Access on Android, and each input method has its own tailored setup. For touch controls, players can choose between 'Precise' and 'Classic' modes, allowing for different steering methods. Similar customizations are available for Switch Access, mouse, keyboard, and Android-compatible gamepads/controllers.

While the eye control functionality is not yet fully implemented in the early access version, it is expected to be available once the full version launches later this summer. In the meantime, you can explore Open Drive on the Google Play Store and see if this groundbreaking game piques your interest.
