Thousands of Skill Line Combinations

Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) marks its 10th anniversary with major updates from ZeniMax Online Studios. At the ESO Direct 2025 event on April 10, developers announced the arrival of the long-requested subclass feature.

Fans have long wanted the ability to switch classes without starting anew. Previously, new skill trees required players to create fresh characters, a hassle in an MMO. The new subclass system lets players mix and match skill lines without restarting.

Players at level 50 can keep one skill line from their base class and swap two others from any of the six available classes, unlocking over 3,000 unique combinations to suit individual playstyles.

Game Director Rich Lambert expressed confidence in the feature, noting extensive testing. While power levels may increase, the team is comfortable with the balance.

Seasons of the Worm Cult Expansion

ZeniMax Online is shifting to seasonal content, allowing for more creative and varied updates, according to Studio Director Matt Firor.

Firor stated, "We aim to craft compelling stories while introducing fresh ideas and gameplay systems, delivered at a pace that lets us diversify our focus and enhance variety."

The upcoming chapter, Seasons of the Worm Cult, continues the Molag Bal storyline after a decade. Players will explore the Isle of Solstice, a new zone, to confront the Worm Cult’s return.

Producer Susan Kath noted that while Seasons of the Worm Cult spans most of 2025, future seasons will run for three to six months. ZeniMax plans “remix” seasons to revisit past storylines, with a Dark Brotherhood-themed season teased.

2025 Content Pass and Premium Edition Details

On April 11, ESO announced via Twitter (X) a new 2025 Content Pass and Premium Edition, bundling past and upcoming content. The pass includes:

　●　Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 1 - June 2 for PC/Mac, June 18 for Xbox and PlayStation
　●　The Writhing Wall in-game event - Q3/4 2025
　●　Feast of Shadows dungeon pack - Q3 2025
　●　Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 2 - Q4 2025

Both editions offer exclusive collectibles:

　●　Golden Eagle pet
　●　Remnant of Meridia's Light memento

These collectibles, including a unique mount, pet, and memento, unlock with Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 1 in June.

Early purchase rewards, available until May 7, include the Mages Guild Recall action. Additional rewards, available until June 2 for PC and June 18 for consoles, include:
