Elden Ring: Nightreign is set to launch imminently, and ahead of its debut, publisher Bandai Namco has released patch 1.01 to optimize the experience for players worldwide. The update is now live, with the game officially launching on May 29 or May 30 depending on your region.

The day-one patch introduces several key enhancements to the gameplay experience. According to Bandai Namco, Patch 1.01 improves the “handling” of playable characters, rebalances certain mechanics, adjusts in-game text, and adds new character scenarios. Additionally, new tracks have been added to the soundtrack to enhance immersion. General bug fixes are also included to ensure smoother performance from the start.

“This update brings gameplay and stability improvements to ensure an optimal experience for your first steps in Limveld,” Bandai Namco stated. Players can confirm they’re running the latest version by checking for the “Ver. 1.01” label displayed in the bottom right corner of the title screen.

In a recent conversation with IGN, Elden Ring: Nightreign director Junya Ishizaki addressed the absence of a two-player co-op mode in the game. While the title supports solo play and three-player groups, it does not feature a dedicated duo option. Ishizaki admitted this was an oversight during development.

"The simple answer is that this was simply overlooked during development — we're very sorry about that," Ishizaki explained. "We set out to make this a multiplayer co-op game centered around three players, balanced for three players, so that was our main focus."

He went on to say that while solo experiences were carefully considered throughout development, the duos option fell through the cracks. However, the team is aware of the feedback and is exploring potential support for two-player co-op post-launch.

So if you're planning to tackle the world of Limveld with just one partner, be prepared to welcome a third player into your squad. You might just end up with someone who knows their way around the battlefield quite well.
