Elden Ring: Nightreign will eliminate the in-game messaging feature, a departure from previous FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter play sessions. With each Nightreign session lasting approximately forty minutes, there's insufficient time for players to effectively utilize the messaging system.

Ishizaki stated, "Given the roughly forty-minute session length, there isn't enough time to send or read messages, so we disabled the feature."

This choice is noteworthy, considering the significant role messaging has played in fostering player interaction and enhancing the experience in past FromSoftware games. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.

To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate narrative. It offers a distinct adventure, presenting new challenges and encounters within a world that retains the atmosphere and complexity of Elden Ring.
