Dune: Awakening's sandworms: a force of nature, not a player's tool. Unlike in Frank Herbert's novels, players cannot summon sandworms at will using a thumper. Instead, these colossal creatures are integrated NPCs with established patrol routes and behaviors within the game's engine.

While you can't directly summon a sandworm, actions like traversing the sand or using a thumper might attract their attention. However, this isn't guaranteed. The thrill of encountering a sandworm will be a consequence of in-game events, not player manipulation.

Riding sandworms, a hallmark of Freman culture in the books and films, is currently unavailable in Dune: Awakening. The developers attribute this omission to considerations from the Dune film franchise.

Future updates might introduce additional Freman-related content, potentially including sandworm riding. However, this remains uncertain at this time.

Dune: Awakening launches on PC May 20th, with console releases to follow.
