Despite BioWare's shift in focus away from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, a dedicated team is still actively working behind the scenes to enhance the game with small, yet exciting additions. Recently, Dragon Age fans were pleasantly surprised to find a new update on the RPG's Steam page, featuring the Rook's Weapons Appearance Offer as a free DLC. This move comes as a refreshing change, especially after EA hinted that Dragon Age: The Veilguard would not receive much ongoing support. The fifth patch in January had promised to primarily address game-breaking bugs, making the introduction of new content feel like an unexpected treat.

Interestingly, the Rook's Weapons Appearances bundle is exclusively available for current owners of the game and those who purchase it on PC before April 8, 2025. While the exact contents of the bundle remain undisclosed, players have discovered that it includes a set of Watchful skins accessible in their Rook's in-game room. It's uncertain whether this offer will extend to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S versions of the game.

"Even if these appearances aren't the most, uh, beautiful things ever," one Steam review noted, "they do give spooky eldritch horror vibes!"

A user on Reddit expressed, "It's cosmetic DLC, but it's essentially free DLC for a game that's practically no longer getting newer content. I'll live with that."

Dragon Age: The Veilguard launched to positive reviews from critics in October but, according to EA, did not connect with a broad enough audience. Subsequently, lead members of the development team announced their departure from BioWare in late January, with many staff members either being laid off or reassigned to other projects within the company. At that time, EA informed IGN that the studio was now focusing its "full attention" on the next installment of the Mass Effect series.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard was included in the PlayStation Plus March 2025 titles, just four months after its initial release. No further plans for its future development have been announced.
