Disney Lorcana has unveiled major updates about the trading card game's future, with the ninth expansion—Fabled—scheduled to launch on September 5, 2025. This release introduces groundbreaking Iconic and Epic rarity cards, along with the highly anticipated debut of A Goofy Movie characters.

In addition to Fabled, new details emerged about the eighth set, Reign of Jafar, arriving June 6, alongside reveals of a Collector's Starter Set and updates on the Disney Lorcana World Championship. And yes, fans won't want to miss the teaser featuring Darkwing Duck.

Fabled Introduces Iconic & Epic Cards, A Goofy Movie, and Competitive Play Rotation

Though more details about Fabled are still under wraps, the previews shared by the Disney Lorcana team make the wait until its August 29 pre-release and September 5 launch even more exciting.

A Goofy Movie cards will be one of Fabled's standout additions—though specifics remain undisclosed. What we do know is Mickey and Minnie will headline the debut of Lorcana's new Iconic Cards, the rarest tier with just two per set.

These ultra-exclusive Iconic Cards feature Mickey and Minnie on a carousel, destined to become collectors' most coveted finds. Alongside them, Epic Cards offer a slightly more attainable rarity—between Legendary and Enchanted—complete with special artwork and foil treatments.

Fabled also marks Lorcana's first competitive play rotation, as the Core Constructed format will exclude cards from the first four sets. However, the new Infinity Constructed format preserves compatibility with older collections.

To ease the transition, Fabled will include reprinted staples like Winnie the Pooh (Hunny Wizard)—including Enchanted versions of popular cards—ensuring accessibility for competitive play.

“Card rotation keeps competitive gameplay dynamic by fostering fresh strategies and deck diversity,” explained Ryan Miller, Ravensburger's Disney Lorcana Brand Manager. “We're reprinting fan-favorites from early sets so players can still enjoy key cards in new formats.”

For newcomers, the Collector's Starter Set offers an ideal entry point, featuring four Fabled booster packs, a Glimmer Foil Tinker Bell promo, a Mickey Mouse portfolio, and a collector's guide.

Reign of Jafar Expands the Lore with Aladdin, Bambi, and a Cooperative Adventure

Launching June 6 (with May 30 pre-release), Reign of Jafar continues Lorcana’s villain-centric storyline: “With the Hexwell Crown, Jafar has corrupted Archazia’s Island. Heroes like Jasmine and Rapunzel must unite to thwart his schemes.”
