Wolcen Studio has announced Project Pantheon, a free-to-play action RPG incorporating extraction shooter mechanics. A closed alpha test begins January 25th in Europe, expanding to North America on February 1st.

Game director Andrei Cirkulete describes the game as a blend of extraction shooter tension and risk-reward with the combat dynamics of an action RPG. The game clearly draws inspiration from titles like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov. Player feedback is highly valued during this alpha phase.

Players assume the role of a Death messenger, tasked with restoring order to a ravaged world. They'll face AI and player-controlled opponents while exploring diverse maps. Successful extractions preserve earned trophies, while failed attempts result in complete loot loss.

Customization is key, with base building, equipment personalization, and varied playstyles encouraged. The game world draws on global mythologies, with player trading forming the core of its economy.

The initial adventure takes place in "Destiny's Edge," a region inspired by Scandinavian legends. Despite being in early alpha, the developers plan to actively engage the community to shape the game's development.
