DC's Absolute Universe: A Chronological Reading Guide

DC's All In publishing initiative provides a unique opportunity for top-tier creators to explore the iconic heroes of the DC Universe in a fresh, continuity-free environment. Spearheaded by comics legends Scott Snyder and Joshua Williamson, the initiative includes the Absolute Universe, which follows up on the Absolute Power arc from late 2024. This ambitious new arc reimagines the status quo for Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, promising to defy expectations for fans of these classic characters.

Since its launch in October, the Absolute Universe has been expanding across multiple ongoing titles, making it challenging to follow the storyline's progression. To help fans navigate this complex narrative, we've compiled a detailed chronology and reading order for DC's Absolute Universe in 2025.

Note: It's important to distinguish between the Absolute Universe titles and DC's "Absolute" collected editions, such as the new Absolute Batman: Zero Year. These are separate entities.

The Reading Order

For the ongoing series, start with our recommended reading order, then continue with subsequent issues in release order. Each main Absolute series is planned to run for six issues and will be collected in future trade paperback editions.

Upcoming Collected Editions

Currently, only the first three Absolute titles have announced release dates for their collected editions:

  • Absolute Batman Vol. 1: The Zoo releases on August 5
  • Absolute Wonder Woman Vol. 1: The Last Amazon releases on August 12
  • Absolute Superman Vol. 1: The Last Dust of Krypton releases on August 19

While this is all the Absolute Universe has planned for now, there's potential for these narratives to lead to a grand finale or additional event by the end of 2025 or beyond, possibly introducing more heroes to the Absolute treatment.
