Owlcat Games has exciting news for fans of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, announcing their next cRPG, Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, following the success of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. Unveiled at the Warhammer Skulls 2025 showcase, Dark Heresy invites players to step into the role of an Inquisitor, a key enforcer of the Imperium tasked with rooting out heresy. Here's what the game promises:

Step into the shadows as an acolyte of the Inquisition in Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, a second narrative-driven tactical RPG set in the beloved grimdark universe. Set against the backdrop of the Noctis Aeterna and the mystery of the Tyrant Star, players will lead a warband of diverse companions in a desperate battle against heresy and corruption—from loyal Imperial subjects, such as a veteran Guardsman from the death world of Catachan, to nefarious xenos, including a bird-like Kroot mercenary.

With intricate investigations, a turn-based combat system, and choices that carry grave consequences, Dark Heresy is set to deliver an atmospheric dive into the brutality and mysticism of one of the Imperium’s most feared organizations. The game greatly expands on the ideas introduced in Rogue Trader and features fully voiced dialogues.

Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy will be available on PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. While a specific release date hasn't been announced, anticipation is already building among fans eager to delve deeper into the grimdark universe.

In addition to Dark Heresy, Owlcat Games revealed future content for Rogue Trader, including the second major story expansion, Lex Imperialis, and Season Pass 2. Lex Imperialis, set to release on June 24, 2025, introduces a new 15-hour storyline centered around the Adeptus Arbites, the Imperium's incorruptible enforcers. Players will meet a new companion, Solomorne Anthar, and utilize battle Familiars like cybernetic eagles and cyber-mastiffs, enhancing both gameplay and narrative depth.

Season Pass 2 for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader includes two new expansions and an appearance customization pack. The third expansion will immerse players in a Necron vault curated by Trazyn the Infinite, where they'll challenge ancient guardians and uncover relics linked to the Von Valancius legacy. The fourth expansion, titled Processional of the Damned, will take players into a voidship graveyard, offering a "descent into madness and mystery." Each DLC will introduce new companions, quests deeply integrated with the main storyline, new mechanics, and around 15 hours of gameplay.
