Cyberpunk 2077 Lunar DLC: Unreleased Space Expansion Revealed

Cyberpunk 2077 enthusiasts were once tantalized by the prospect of an expansive DLC that would have taken players to the Moon. Thanks to the diligent work of blogger and dataminer SirMZK, who unearthed leaks and files from the game's code, we now have insight into CD Projekt RED's ambitious plans for this cosmic expansion.

The game's files revealed references to lunar surface maps, detailed areas such as the Exterior Movie Set and Drug Lab, and even a model of a rover. The envisioned Moon location was set to be expansive, potentially covering a quarter of the size of Night City and featuring an open-world design. This would have introduced a thrilling new dimension to the gameplay, allowing players to venture far beyond the familiar neon-lit streets of Night City.

One of the highlights of the proposed DLC was the Crystal Palace, an elite space station. Although it didn't make it into the final game, keen-eyed players can spot the Crystal Palace in one of the endings, where V gazes out of a spaceship window. Furthermore, the files hinted at a zero-gravity bar associated with a cut quest named "201," which was connected to the Arasaka storyline.

While the Moon DLC remains a distant dream, fans remain hopeful that some of these innovative ideas might find new life in CD Projekt RED's upcoming project, Orion, which aims to further expand the Cyberpunk universe. However, there has been no official word from the studio about incorporating these concepts into future works.

Though the Moon expansion never came to fruition, the uncovered details offer a captivating glimpse into what could have been—an audacious leap for Cyberpunk 2077 into unexplored realms, seamlessly blending space exploration with the game's distinctive cyberpunk flair.
