Halo Infinite, while perhaps not dominating the headlines as much as some other titles, continues to receive consistent content updates. A recent addition is a highly anticipated competitive mode: S&D Extraction. This new mode delivers a strategic and refreshing gameplay experience.

Inspired by the classic Counter-Strike formula, S&D Extraction puts a unique Halo twist on the familiar bomb defusal scenario. Two teams of four players face off – one team attacks, aiming to plant a device at a specific location, while the other defends. Teams switch roles after each round, and the first team to win six rounds claims victory.

Adding a significant layer of strategic depth is the inclusion of a robust economic system. Players earn in-game currency by completing objectives, which they then use to purchase equipment at the start of each round. This creates a dynamic where item prices fluctuate based on player performance, ensuring every round presents a fresh challenge. All purchased gear is lost at the end of each round.

The cost of each item reflects its effectiveness and power within the round; stronger items naturally come with a higher price tag. Expect to see cheaper options early in the match, progressively more expensive choices mid-game, and potentially even pricier gear available late in the match for players who have saved their earnings. Furthermore, players will have the option to pay for respawning after being eliminated.

S&D Extraction is slated for release in Halo Infinite in 2025, promising a competitive experience that will keep fans engaged and coming back for more.
