"Far Cry 4 Achieves 60fps on PS5"

May 24,25(3 months ago)

Eleven years after its initial release, Far Cry 4 has been updated to run at a smooth 60 frames per second (fps) on the PlayStation 5. This enhancement was first noticed by user gael_74 and shared on the Far Cry 4 subreddit. The game's update history confirms that Version 1.08 brought "support for 60 FPS on PS5 console."

If you haven't yet experienced Far Cry 4, now is the perfect moment to dive in. The game features one of the series' most memorable villains, Pagan Min, and immerses players in a vibrant and expansive open world. The Himalayan setting is not just visually stunning but also serves as an interactive playground that encourages exploration, combat, and hunting.

While Far Cry 4 may have its shortcomings in character development, its campaign, co-op, and competitive multiplayer modes offer a thrilling sense of freedom. IGN's review praised the game, awarding it an impressive 8.5/10 and describing it as "great."

Far Cry 4 joins a list of PS4-era Ubisoft titles that have recently received performance upgrades, including Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Assassin's Creed Origins. This has sparked excitement among fans on the subreddit, who are now eagerly anticipating similar updates for other beloved titles such as Far Cry Primal and Far Cry 3.

However, the timing of this update was a bit unfortunate for some players. One user lamented on the subreddit, "You are kidding right. I just platinumed the game, like, three days ago."

In other Ubisoft news, the company recently established a new subsidiary focused on its Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six brands, with a significant €1.16 billion (approximately $1.25 billion) investment from Tencent.

This move follows the announcement that Assassin's Creed Shadows has surpassed 3 million players. Ubisoft has faced numerous challenges in recent times, including high-profile flops, layoffs, studio closures, and game cancellations. With the company's share price hitting an all-time low, there is considerable pressure on Assassin's Creed Shadows to succeed.

Additionally, Ubisoft has recently quietly added Steam Achievements to the 12-year-old Splinter Cell: Blacklist, further engaging its community with new content.
