Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Developers Eyeing Switch 2 Port

Says It "Could Be Interesting"

Following the resounding success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, developer Sandfall Interactive is exploring the possibility of bringing their acclaimed game to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. In a recent interview with French YouTuber mistermv on May 2, Expedition 33 Director Guillaume Broche discussed the studio's future plans in the wake of their game's impressive launch.

Broche acknowledged the game's success as a game-changer, saying, "Well, at this point, considering the success of the game, it kind of changes everything." This success has opened up numerous opportunities for the studio, and they are carefully considering their next steps.

When the topic of a Switch 2 release came up, Broche expressed interest but remained cautious about making any immediate commitments. "So clearly, it's too early to say, but we're kind of in a situation where... let's say there are a lot of opportunities showing up - way too many at once - and we're figuring out what we'll go for and what we won't. But yeah, it's definitely something that could be interesting," he explained.

With the buzz around the upcoming Switch 2, fans are eager to see if they can experience the Belle Époque-inspired turn-based RPG on Nintendo's new handheld console. However, they will need to wait patiently for official announcements.

No Official Merchandise…Yet!

Amidst the game's success, Sandfall Interactive is also receiving numerous requests and opportunities, including the potential release of official merchandise. One beloved character, Esquie, has caught the attention of fans who are eager for an official plush. However, Sandfall has warned fans about fake merchandise being sold online. In a Twitter (X) post on May 14, they clarified, "To be clear: any third-party websites selling Esquie plushies are NOT officially licensed."

They further cautioned that many of these bootleg items feature AI-generated artwork, which the studio strongly advises against purchasing due to potential scams. Despite this, Sandfall is actively working on creating official Esquie plushies. They shared their plans in a tweet, stating, "But here’s the wheee to balance out the whooo: we are looking into making official Esquie plushies, and we want to bring them to you as soon as we can. In the meantime, please be patient — and don’t get scammed!"
