A New Game Is Definitely Coming

The phenomenal success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has transformed the trajectory of developer Sandfall Interactive, unlocking new opportunities for the French studio—most notably, the strong likelihood of a new game. In a May 27 interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Sandfall Interactive COO and Producer François Meurisse shared details about what follows the Belle Époque-inspired turn-based RPG.

"Another video game is definitely on the horizon," Meurisse stated. While it's too soon to know specifics, the team is already buzzing with anticipation. "I'm eager to explore the ideas we’ve already brainstormed for our next project," he added.

Meurisse noted that the team gained considerable experience and refined their skills throughout the project. "Many of our developers were juniors when we started. We've learned how to collaborate effectively. I'm excited to begin the next game because we'll be starting from a much stronger position than we were five years ago. Of course, with that comes higher expectations, so it will be a challenge. But I can confirm we have—and Guillaume especially has—some fantastic ideas for the next title," he explained.

It's still unknown whether the next release will be a direct sequel to Expedition 33 or an entirely new intellectual property. In the meantime, players are curious about a potential DLC, especially since Lead Writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen recently hinted positively at the possibility of an expansion.

3.3 Million Copies Sold in Just 33 Days

Expedition 33 continues to achieve impressive milestones, this time with one uniquely tailored to its legacy. On May 27, Sandfall Interactive announced via Twitter (X) that the game sold 3.3 million copies in only 33 days.

"Seriously. As of today. We couldn’t make this up. This is another surreal moment made possible by your incredible support. Thank you, everyone," the studio shared. Given the game's consistent performance, this achievement isn't entirely unexpected—but the specific numbers add a touch of magic to the story.
