An IGN interview with Civ VII lead designer Ed Beach on February 13, 2025, offered a glimmer of hope for Gandhi's return. Beach confirmed that while not present at launch, Gandhi's inclusion as a future DLC leader is being considered.
During the interview, Beach addressed the absence of several popular civilizations and leaders from the initial Civ VII lineup, including Great Britain and India. He explained that the sheer number of beloved choices necessitated some omissions to allow for the introduction of fresh, exciting options. He emphasized that Firaxis is taking a long-term view and actively considering which leaders and civilizations will be added later.
Given the extensive DLC history of Civilization VI, the chances of Gandhi eventually appearing in Civ VII seem high. However, a specific release date or timeframe remains unconfirmed.
