The highly anticipated Narnia reboot from award-winning Barbie filmmaker Greta Gerwig has expanded its cast with acclaimed actress Carey Mulligan joining the ensemble.

Hollywood Reporter reveals Mulligan will star alongside Daniel Craig (former James Bond), Emma Mackey (Sex Education), and cinematic icon Meryl Streep in this fresh adaptation of C.S. Lewis' beloved fantasy series.

Gerwig will write and direct this new interpretation of the Narnia universe, focusing on the prequel story The Magician's Nephew - which chronologically precedes the well-known The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Oscar-nominated Mulligan will portray Mabel Kirke, mother of the young protagonist Digory, while Craig stars as the mysterious magician (Digory's uncle). Mackey will embody a younger version of the White Witch, with Streep lending her voice to Aslan, the majestic talking lion.

This marks the latest attempt to bring Narnia to cinema screens following the successful early 2000s trilogy that adapted the first three books, featuring Tilda Swinton as the White Witch and Liam Neeson voicing Aslan.

The project represents Gerwig's first major undertaking since her record-breaking Barbie (2023), which earned numerous accolades including an Oscar for Best Original Song. The Narnia reboot is currently slated for a 2026 release.
