Capcom Hints at Resident Evil 9 in New Video Celebrating 10M RE4 Players
Capcom has subtly teased the upcoming Resident Evil 9 in a clever way that's easy to miss.
To celebrate reaching an impressive 10 million players, the Resident Evil 4 development team shared a short video on social media on April 25. The video features Ada Wong whispering to one of gaming's most iconic villains, followed by a scene where Leon is surrounded by an infected horde wearing party hats as they casually advance towards a church.
The video then transitions to a rock song with Dr. Salvador playing his chainsaw as if it were a guitar. As the camera pulls back, it shows Leon energetically pumping his fist in front of a rustic "Thank you for playing" sign.
You can watch the full video below:

However, if you rotate the sign, the planks form the Roman numeral "IX," which represents the number 9. While some might think this is just a coincidence, horror game leaker Dusk Golem points out that a lower plank, which would disrupt the numeral, is missing in earlier parts of the video, suggesting this was an intentional tease.
"I know what you did here," said one surprised responder, adding a wide-eyed emoji to their comment.
Capcom has confirmed that the next mainline entry in the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil 9, will be directed by Koshi Nakanishi, the director of Resident Evil 7."It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7]," Nakanishi said at the time. "But I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." Rumors suggest, though not confirmed, that the game might be set on an island inspired by Singapore.
