Gearbox Software has revealed the official release date for Borderlands 4.

During the recent State of Play presentation, Gearbox president Randy Pitchford unveiled the September 23rd, 2025 launch date. To mark the occasion, Gearbox released a new trailer showcasing exciting gameplay features.

A standout addition in the trailer is the inclusion of a grappling hook. However, fans can rest assured that the signature Borderlands blend of over-the-top weaponry, explosive action, and chaotic mayhem remains a core element.

Further celebrating the announcement, Gearbox announced a dedicated Borderlands 4 State of Play showcase, premiering this spring. This special presentation will offer an extended look at gameplay and, naturally, a plethora of new weaponry.

While narrative details remain scarce, the lead writer has hinted at a potential shift away from the previous game's reliance on "toilet humor." Whether Borderlands 4 adopts a more mature tone remains to be seen.
