Gearbox Software has officially announced Borderlands 4's pricing alongside the start of pre-orders. On June 16, the official Borderlands Twitter account revealed the game is now available for pre-order across all platforms.

The announcement confirmed a $70 price for the Standard Edition, with Deluxe and Super Deluxe editions priced at $100 and $130 respectively. This puts rest to speculation that the game might cost $80 at launch.

The pricing became controversial weeks earlier when Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford gave evasive responses about potential costs. On May 14, he suggested "true fans" would accept an $80 price point, sparking backlash.

The debate continued until May 29, when Pitchford issued a lengthy clarification tweet attempting to resolve the situation, claiming he had no actual knowledge of final pricing.

Pitchford stated: "I regret any misunderstanding. My genuine position is that no player should pay more than they're comfortable with. My goal is always ensuring customers feel they receive excellent value regardless of price."
