The Blood of Dawnwalker: Aiming for AAA Quality

In a conversation with GamesRadar, creative director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz revealed Rebel Wolves' ambition: to deliver AAA quality despite being a smaller studio launching its debut game. Addressing the blurry lines between AA and AAA, he emphasized their commitment to Witcher 3-level quality.

While Rebel Wolves is a new studio, its team boasts veterans from CD Projekt Red, with experience on both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. Tomaszkiewicz and his brother Konrad founded the studio to pursue greater creative freedom than offered by larger AAA environments.

Tomaszkiewicz clarified that while the game's scope is smaller than a typical AAA title – aiming for a 30-40 hour campaign – the quality remains paramount. He challenged the notion that size equates to quality, citing examples like Call of Duty which, despite shorter campaigns, are undeniably AAA.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is a narrative-driven, open-world dark fantasy RPG set in Vale Sangora. Players embody Coen, a peasant imbued with vampiric powers after a fateful encounter. His quest: to save his ailing sister, navigating the dangers and intricacies of this dark world.

While a release date remains unannounced, the game is slated for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with a gameplay reveal planned for Summer 2025.
