Treyarch Unveils "The Tomb," a New Map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, in 115 Day Celebration

Treyarch is marking 115 Day with a flurry of announcements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, including the highly anticipated reveal of a new map, "The Tomb." This annual January 15th event brings a comprehensive blog post detailing upcoming zombie-themed surprises.

The centerpiece of today's announcements is "The Tomb," a desert-themed Zombies map launching with Season 2 on January 28th. This follows Season 1's "Citadelle des Morts," adding another chapter to the Zombies universe in less than two weeks.

Treyarch's storyline summary reveals that Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya, following Gabriel Krafft's clues, investigate an excavation site to secure the Sentinel Artifact. The catacombs, situated on ancient burial grounds dating back to 2500 B.C.E., remained undisturbed for centuries until the early 1900s, hinting at a deeper mystery.

While details are scarce, the map is described as having connections to a British archaeologist, Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe. Gameplay-wise, it's designed to offer a similar experience to "Liberty Falls," featuring tighter spaces and a strong emphasis on replayability and Easter egg hunts.

Season 2 also promises a revamped Wonder Weapon, inspired by previous iterations, and the return of a classic SMG. Further details on these additions remain under wraps.

Significant quality-of-life improvements are also on the horizon, including community-requested features such as tracking up to 10 Calling Card and Camo challenges across Zombies and Multiplayer modes. A co-op pause option for Zombies is introduced, allowing the party leader to pause mid-game. Separate HUD presets for Zombies and Multiplayer will be implemented, and players will be able to rejoin Zombies matches with their loadouts if disconnected.

Treyarch also shared impressive statistics for the story-driven Directed Mode, revealing over 480 million hours played in Black Ops 6 Zombies. The team notes that the average Main Quest completion rate has more than doubled since its launch.

The upcoming release of "The Tomb" also brings attention to the recent voice actor recastings for some Zombies characters, a consequence of the SAG-AFTRA strike.
