Bandai Namco has made the surprising announcement of the shutdown of PAC-MAN Mobile, coinciding ironically with the iconic character's 45th anniversary celebration this year. This beloved mobile version, which initially launched over a decade ago, has been a staple for fans enjoying the classic arcade experience on their devices.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases were discontinued starting April 1st, but players can continue enjoying the game until the final day. For those still engaged with the game, this is your last chance to savor the experience.

There's been a wave of disappointment among the player community, as many hoped Bandai Namco would consider an offline version instead of a complete shutdown. An offline mode could have maintained the game's legacy and potentially generated additional revenue.

This iteration of PAC-MAN, formerly known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered more than just nostalgic arcade vibes. Alongside the classic 8-bit arcade mode, it included a Story Mode with numerous original mazes to navigate. The Adventure Mode featured limited-time themed events, allowing players to unlock exclusive skins. Additionally, the Tournament Mode provided weekly maze challenges across three difficulty levels, complemented by a variety of skins for PAC-MAN, the ghosts, the joystick, and more.

The Reason

Over the past few years, the game has struggled with accumulating bugs and issues, which likely contributed significantly to the decision to shut it down. The initial excitement around its launch on Android, where players competed for high scores and leaderboard rankings, has faded as these technical problems persisted.
