Assassin's Creed Games Ranked: A Tier List

Ubisoft's latest addition to the beloved Assassin's Creed series, Assassin's Creed Shadows, has finally arrived, transporting players to the rich and enigmatic world of 16th-century Japan. As the 14th installment in the core series, it follows the journey of Naoe and Yasuke, marking another chapter in the saga that began with Desmond Miles and Altaïr back in 2007. With over 30 games released under the Assassin's Creed banner, we focus here solely on the mainline entries, excluding mobile, side-scrolling, VR, and spin-offs like Bloodlines or Liberation.

Curious about where Assassin's Creed Shadows ranks among its predecessors? I've taken the liberty of creating a personal tier list based on my enjoyment of each game, and you can see it right here:

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag remains my top pick, nestled in the S-tier alongside Assassin's Creed 2. Black Flag's blend of island exploration, exhilarating ship combat, and its vibrant cast make it the quintessential Assassin's Creed experience for me. Meanwhile, Assassin's Creed 2 is the game that truly propelled the series into the spotlight. In the A-tier, I've placed Valhalla, which might raise some eyebrows, but I'm enamored with its Viking-inspired combat and the addictive Orlog minigame. Joining it is Unity, whose breathtaking recreation of French Revolution-era Paris still holds up beautifully a decade later.

Do you have a different opinion? Perhaps you think Valhalla suffers from bloat, or that Assassin's Creed 2 is overrated? Now's your chance to create your own tier list and see how your rankings stack up against the IGN community. Use the tier list below to assign your S, A, B, C, and D tiers and share your thoughts.
