The much-anticipated Amazon adaptation of the video game "God of War" is already set for two seasons before its premiere, as revealed by showrunner Ronald D. Moore. Moore, who took the reins after the departure of Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, discussed his involvement in an interview with Katee Sackhoff, his former colleague from "Battlestar Galactica."

"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of, there's a video game called God of War, a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they've asked me to come in," Moore shared. "So I'm literally in the writer's room, and working on that. That's my new thing."

Despite not being a gamer himself, Moore has dabbled with classics like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He humorously recounted his struggles with modern game controllers: "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead," he quipped.

For the "God of War" series, Moore steps in as writer, executive producer, and showrunner, bringing his extensive experience from shows like "Star Trek: The Next Generation," "Deep Space Nine," and "Battlestar Galactica." Although some of the original team has left, Sony's Cory Barlog remains as an executive producer, ensuring a connection to the game's roots.

The series is set to be based on the 2018 "God of War" game, though specifics are still under wraps. Amazon's track record of quickly renewing successful video game adaptations like "Fallout" and "Secret Level" suggests a promising future for "God of War" on their streaming platform.
