"New Alien: Earth Trailer Unveils Xenomorph Design, Nods to 1979 Ridley Scott Classic"
A new trailer for the highly anticipated TV series Alien: Earth has surfaced online, giving fans an exciting glimpse into what awaits them this summer. The trailer, first showcased at Disney's 2025 Annual Meeting of Shareholders and shared by @CineGeekNews on X/Twitter, plunges viewers into the harrowing aftermath of a spaceship's collision with a Xenomorph, setting a perilous course toward Earth.
The trailer not only introduces a fresh take on the iconic Xenomorph but also echoes the aesthetic of Ridley Scott's seminal 1979 film. Scenes inside a MU/TH/UR control room strikingly reminiscent of the Nostromo set the stage for the unfolding horror. A crew member's desperate pleas for help as she is trapped with the Xenomorph are juxtaposed against Morrow (Babou Ceesay), who coldly reports the escape of the "specimens," deems the crew dead, and directs the ship towards Earth. The trailer then shifts to a squad of six soldiers approaching what appears to be the crashed vessel, hinting at the inevitable confrontation with the deadly creature.
This trailer raises numerous questions about the series' plot. Will Morrow survive the ordeal? What drives his decisions? Are there any other survivors from the crew, and has anyone been left carrying the deadly offspring of the Xenomorph? The fate of the soldiers, who are likely to encounter the creature, also remains uncertain.
Alien: Earth is set to explore the aftermath of this mysterious ship's crash landing on Earth. A young woman, portrayed by Sydney Chandler, alongside a group of tactical soldiers, stumble upon a discovery that pits them against the planet's ultimate threat.
Set in the year 2120, Alien: Earth fits neatly into the Alien timeline, occurring just after Prometheus and two years before the events of the original Alien. This positioning has led fans to speculate about potential connections to the Nostromo or the origins of Weyland-Yutani's interest in the Xenomorphs. However, showrunner Noah Hawley has clarified that the series will steer away from the backstory established in Prometheus, opting instead for the "retro-futurism" style of the original films. After discussions with Ridley Scott, Hawley chose to focus on the lore established in the initial movies, distancing the series from the bioweapon narrative of the prequels.
Alien: Earth is slated to premiere on Hulu in the summer of 2025. Meanwhile, Alien: Romulus 2 is also in development, further expanding the universe of this beloved franchise.
