As if they could resist putting Alicia Silverstone back in the yellow and plaid. The iconic actress is reportedly set to reprise her starring role as Cher Horowitz in a highly anticipated Clueless sequel series for Peacock.

The series is currently in development with the streamer, according to Variety, and while plot details are being kept under wraps, we do know that Silverstone will be returning to her beloved character. The show promises to be a direct continuation of the story from the original 1995 film. It's worth noting that this new project is distinct from the Clueless spin-off Peacock had planned in 2020.

The creative team behind the series is nothing short of impressive. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, renowned for their work on the original Gossip Girl series and its reboot, will be writing the series alongside Jordan Weiss. Together, they will also executive produce the show, joined by Amy Heckerling, the original writer-director of Clueless, and Robert Lawrence, the film's original producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television are set to produce this exciting revival.

This isn't the first time Clueless has made the jump to the small screen. Following the film's success, a television adaptation aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, with Rachel Blanchard stepping into the role of Cher instead of Silverstone.

Silverstone's recent return to her Clueless character in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten shows her eagerness to revisit Cher's world. It's no surprise she's ready to dive back into Cher's iconic wardrobe.
