Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 Exceeds Fundraising Goal, Raising Over $2.5 Million for Cancer Prevention

The Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 event, held from January 5th to 13th, shattered fundraising records, collecting over $2.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. This surpasses the 2024 total by more than $100,000. The event featured a diverse lineup of speedruns, showcasing gaming talent across various genres, including notable runs of Crazy Taxi, Super Metroid, and Pikmin.

AGDQ, a prominent annual winter event, is one of two major Games Done Quick (GDQ) marathons held yearly, complemented by the Summer Games Done Quick in July. GDQ also organizes smaller events throughout the year, such as Frame Fatales and GDQ Express. In 2024, a special Disaster Relief Done Quick event raised over $45,000 for Direct Relief in response to Hurricane Helene.

This year's AGDQ 2025, held in Pittsburgh, kicked off with a swift Pikmin (Switch) run by Ray0ken. The event's success significantly contributes to the Prevent Cancer Foundation's mission of early detection, prevention, research, and public awareness programs. The partnership between GDQ and the PCF has yielded over $26 million in donations across numerous events.

A standout moment was a thrilling 18-minute Crazy Taxi speedrun by Chuckles825, featuring a live band performing the game's soundtrack to circumvent copyright restrictions. This unique performance generated over $24,000 in donations.

The event concluded with a nail-biting randomized four-player Super Metroid (SNES) race, resulting in a photo finish between Eddie and Andy. The next GDQ event, Summer Games Done Quick 2025, will benefit Doctors Without Borders and take place in Minneapolis starting July 6th.
