4A Games Announces New Metro Game with Dmitry Glukhovsky
Amidst the buzz surrounding Reburn, a new studio formed by former members of 4A Games Ukraine—the masterminds behind the iconic Metro series—the original 4A Games has stepped forward to reassure fans of their unwavering commitment to expanding the beloved franchise. This clarification came in the wake of Reburn's announcement of their inaugural project, La Quimera, which sparked questions about the future direction of the Metro series.

In an official statement, 4A Games addressed any confusion regarding their relationship with Reburn, extending congratulations on La Quimera while reaffirming their dedication to the Metro series. “We remain the team responsible for bringing you the beloved Metro games,” the statement proudly declared. “Our efforts toward the next Metro installment continue in partnership with Dmitry Glukhovsky, guided by the same visionaries and talent that have shaped the series since its inception.”
Beyond the eagerly anticipated Metro sequel, the studio also hinted at progress on a brand-new IP, though they kept the details under wraps. They expressed immense pride in their Ukrainian heritage and the diversity of their multicultural team, noting that most of their staff—approximately 150 out of over 200 members—are still based in Kyiv, with additional satellite operations in Sliema, Malta, and various remote arrangements.
Regarding the organizational split, 4A Games provided clarity on their evolving structure: “Following the completion of Metro Exodus and its DLC, we collaborated closely with our partners at 4A Games Ukraine through outsourcing. Post-Exodus, we founded 4A Games Limited in Kyiv, absorbing roughly 50 more colleagues to sustain our momentum. Simultaneously, 4A Games Ukraine embarked on their standalone journey with La Quimera, eventually rebranding as Reburn.”
Since the release of Metro Exodus in early 2019, fan interest in the series has only grown stronger despite limited updates. While spin-offs and enhancements like the Enhanced Edition have kept the community engaged, many are eagerly awaiting the next chapter in Dmitry Glukhovsky’s dystopian universe. Supported by Embracer Group (formerly known as THQ Nordic), the studio initially teased a new Metro title back in 2019, hinting at a release within the "202X" timeframe before going silent. Now, it appears that the wait for the next thrilling installment may soon be over.
