Palace - Classic Free Card Game (AKA Shed, Karma, or "OG")
In the 90s, Palace was the top card game in my high school’s study hall and cafeteria. Wikipedia notes its popularity among backpackers, making it widely known.
** New options added based on user feedback (pickup pile anytime and 7 forces lower).
** Now supports playing with friends.
Challenge eight unique computer opponents, each with distinct play styles, or compete live against friends.
Basic Rules:
Each player receives 3 'face down cards,' which remain unseen and unchanged until the game ends. Then, 3 'face up cards' are placed over them. Finally, players get 3 cards for their hand. You may swap hand cards with your face-up cards if desired.
The player with a 3 or the lowest card begins.
On your turn, discard a card (or multiple of the same rank) equal to or higher than the top card on the pickup pile, then draw to maintain at least 3 cards in hand (unless the deck is empty or you already have 3 or more).
2s and 10s are wild. 2s reset the pile, and 10s clear it. Four of a kind also clears the pile, like a 10.
If you lack a playable card (higher, equal, or wild), you must take the entire pile.
When your hand and deck are empty, play your face-up cards. After those, play your face-down cards.
The first to discard all cards wins.
Palace is also called Shed, Karma, or "OG."
