AIMP is a classic playlist-based audio player designed specifically for the Android operating system. Users should note that the app may experience compatibility issues on devices running M.I.U.I firmware.
The app boasts an extensive range of supported audio formats, including aac, ape, dff, dsf, flac, it, m4a, m4b, mo3, mod, mp2, mp3, mp4, mpc, mpga, mtm, ogg, opus, s3m, tta, umx, wav, webm, wv, and xm. It also supports various playlist formats such as m3u, m3u8, xspf, pls, and cue. AIMP enhances your mobile listening experience with support for Android Auto and custom Car PCs, utilizing advanced audio output methods like OpenSL, AudioTrack, and AAudio.
Key functionalities include seamless integration with CUE Sheets, compatibility with OTG-storages and custom file providers, and the ability to create user bookmarks and custom playback queues. The app enriches your music experience with features like album arts, lyrics display, and the capability to manage multiple playlists, including smart-playlists based on folders. AIMP also supports internet radio streaming, including HTTP Live Streaming, and automatically detects tags encoding for a more organized library.
Audio enthusiasts will appreciate the built-in 20-band graphic equalizer, along with controls for balance and playback speed. The app offers volume normalization using either replay gain or peak-based methods, a sleep timer, and custom themes including light, dark, and black options, with support for both night and day modes.
Optional features extend the functionality with automatic music search and indexing, cross-fading between tracks, and versatile playback options such as repeat modes for playlists, tracks, or continuous play without repeats. AIMP allows for downmixing multi-channel audio to stereo or mono, and offers convenient playback controls from the notification area, via gestures on the album art, or through a headset. Users can also switch tracks using volume buttons.
Additional capabilities include playing files directly from File Manager applications, accessing music from Windows shared folders (supporting only v2 and v3 of the Samba protocol), and integrating with WebDAV-based cloud storage. Users can selectively add files or folders to playlists, delete files permanently, sort and group files by templates, search within a filtered mode, share audio files, and even register a playing track as a ringtone directly from the player. The app also supports editing metadata for APE, MP3, FLAC, OGG, and M4A file formats.
Importantly, AIMP is completely free from advertisements, ensuring a seamless and uninterrupted user experience.
