Voltorb & Hisuian Voltorb Spotlight Hour

This week's Spotlight Hour, featuring both Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb, runs from 6 PM to 7 PM Local Time on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Prepare for a double dose of Pokémon catching and shiny hunting! Both Pokémon offer valuable combat advantages, especially when extra damage is needed.

Given the dual Pokémon focus, maximize your chances by stocking up on Poké Balls, Berries, and Incense. These items boost your odds of catching and evolving shiny versions. Also, clear out some space in your Pokémon storage; you'll be catching a lot!

Voltorb (#100, Kanto Region):

Voltorb, the Kanto-region Electric-type, is tradeable and transferable to Pokémon Home. Catching it yields 3 candies and 100 Stardust. It evolves into Electrode using 50 candies. With a max CP of 1141, 109 Attack, and 111 Defense, Voltorb packs a punch. Remember, it's weak against Ground-type attacks (160% damage) and resistant to Electric, Flying, and Steel-type attacks (63% damage). Its optimal moveset is Spark and Discharge (5.81 DPS, 40.62 TDO), boosted in rainy weather. A blue Shiny Voltorb awaits!

Hisuian Voltorb (#100, Kanto Region):

Hisuian Voltorb, also #100 in the Pokédex, shares Voltorb's evolution line and transfer options. Catching rewards are the same: 3 candies and 100 Stardust. Evolution into Hisuian Electrode requires 50 candies. Stats mirror Voltorb's (1141 CP, 111 Defense, 109 Attack). While also Electric-type, its type matchups differ. It takes increased damage from Bug, Fire, Ice, and Poison-type attacks (160% damage) but reduced damage from Grass, Steel, Water, and Electric-type attacks (63% and 39% damage). Its best moveset is Tackle and Thunderbolt (5.39 DPS, 37.60 TDO), enhanced in Partly Cloudy and Rainy weather. Look for the shiny variant with its distinctive black body.
