Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team Joins Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack

Nintendo announced that Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team will be available on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service starting August 9th. This beloved roguelike spin-off, originally released on the Game Boy Advance in 2006, lets players experience the Pokémon world from a unique perspective – as a Pokémon! Mainline Pokémon Games Still Sought After
While the Expansion Pack regularly adds classic titles, the inclusion of primarily Pokémon spin-offs (like Pokémon Snap and Pokémon Puzzle League) has left some fans wanting more. Many are hoping to see mainline entries like Pokémon Red and Blue added to the service. Speculation about this absence ranges from potential N64 Transfer Pak compatibility issues to challenges integrating the service with the Pokémon Home app, due to Nintendo not owning the app outright. One fan theorized that ensuring fair and secure trading mechanics is a key factor in the delay.
Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack: Mega Multiplayer Festival
To celebrate the addition of PMD: Red Rescue Team, Nintendo is offering a special deal: resubscribing to a 12-month Nintendo Switch Online membership gets you two extra months free! This is part of the Mega Multiplayer Festival, running until September 8th. There are also bonus Gold Points for game purchases (August 5th-18th) and upcoming multiplayer game trials (August 19th-25th – titles to be announced). A Mega Multiplayer game sale follows from August 26th to September 8th, 2024.
