Bloodborne Remaster Speculation Runs Wild Due to Official Instagram Posts
For years, Bloodborne fans have passionately called for a remastered edition of FromSoftware's acclaimed title. Recent Instagram activity has only fueled this fervent speculation.
Instagram Posts Ignite Bloodborne Remaster Hype
A Beloved Classic Deserves a Modern Update
Bloodborne, the critically lauded RPG released in 2015, remains a beloved fan favorite. Many players eagerly await the chance to revisit the gothic city of Yharnam on current-generation consoles. While no official announcement has been made, recent Instagram posts from FromSoftware and PlayStation Italia featuring the game have reignited the anticipation.
On August 24th, FromSoftware shared three images showcasing the game's title and the hashtag "#bloodborne." One image featured Djura, a veteran hunter encountered in Old Yharnam. The others depicted the player Hunter exploring Yharnam's heart and the Charnel Lane graveyards.
While these posts could simply be a nostalgic look back, dedicated Bloodborne fans on platforms like Twitter (X) are meticulously analyzing every detail, searching for hints confirming a long-awaited remaster. The timing, especially with a similar post from PlayStation Italia on August 17th, has left many feeling teased.
PlayStation Italia's post, translated, asked fans to share their favorite Bloodborne locations, prompting a wave of comments expressing a desire for a Yharnam return. Many fondly reminisced about their favorite areas, while others humorously suggested the most iconic location would be on PC or modern consoles.
The Hunt Continues: Bloodborne on Modern Consoles
Released exclusively for PS4 in 2015, Bloodborne cultivated a fiercely loyal following, earning widespread critical acclaim and recognition as one of the greatest video games ever created. Despite this, a sequel or remaster remains elusive.
Fans often cite the 2020 Demon's Souls remake (originally released in 2009) as a potential precedent for a Bloodborne revival. However, this hope is tempered by the lengthy wait for the Demon's Souls remake, sparking fears of a similar delay for Bloodborne. As the game approaches its tenth anniversary, anticipation for a remastered version is reaching fever pitch.
In a February interview with Eurogamer, Bloodborne director Hidetaka Miyazaki fueled the speculation. While avoiding concrete confirmation, he acknowledged the advantages of remastering the game for modern hardware, emphasizing improved accessibility for a wider player base.
Miyazaki's comments, while hopeful, highlight that the final decision rests not with FromSoftware. Unlike Elden Ring (which FromSoftware fully publishes), Bloodborne's IP rights are held by Sony. In subsequent interviews, Miyazaki reiterated his inability to comment on the matter due to FromSoftware's lack of ownership.
Bloodborne's passionate fanbase continues to yearn for a remake or remaster. Despite its critical success and strong sales, Sony has yet to expand its availability beyond the PlayStation 4. Only time will reveal whether the current speculation will lead to a long-awaited release.
